Wow. Measured 3 times to verify. And I definitely haven’t had any side effects from the Alli and I’m 3 dosages into it so.. we’ll see.
Time to ride the bike.

So I had a pretty bad day on Saturday. Family had a party for my sister’s graduation and I don’t do well in crowds. So when there is a crowd and a ton of food, I turn to stress-eating. I tried to remove myself from the situation but then people send my cousins and my parents friends kids to “go say hi” to pressure me to come upstairs. I wish people understood what they were doing when they did that. If they want to see me so bad they can stop by any other day when I don’t have to face a crowd of 30 people. Next time I’m just shutting my phone off.
That said, the total for the day wasn’t too bad considering I’d probably have eaten 3 times as much before. I had 2 roast beef sandwiches, a meatball sandwich and 2 helpings of Hot German Potato Salad which is pretty much carbs cooked in fat. It is probably my favorite food though. Of course it is, its the worst for me.
A New Hope
So I’ve decided that I need a little more help – I’ve already cut down on calories, sticking to 1500-2000 a day for the most part. From measuring I find that 50% of these are from fat – it is just the nature of the food I end up eating. So I’ve turned to Alli – yes, the poop yourself medicine. Everything I’ve read says that a relatively small (30%) number of people end up with the ‘Oops’ effect. Most have gas. And the people who do have problems seem to be people who are eating foods far too fatty and then expecting not to crap themselves. It isn’t meant to replace dietary change, but to augment it.
And lets be honest, when you way this much, loose stool isn’t exactly a new idea. Thank god I’ve been eating fiber bars for a month now. Best poop I’ve ever had.
So it has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me the past few weeks. After going up to 550 at one point I turned things back around and got into a steady pattern again and am down all the way to 539. Ordered some GNU Foods fiber bars (they have a great 30 bars a month plan that sends you them automatically on their website. They are very filling and only like 140 calories and contain half (!) the fiber you are supposed to get in a day. They aren’t a snickers or anything but they taste ok and are filling. I also ordered some ThinkThin protein bars which should arrive today. Both of these are on the recommendation of tech blogger/Mahalo CEO Jason Calacanis.
Anyway, I’m feeling pretty good about this now. Still going to my doctor on Saturday to see what else I can do but I’m feeling pretty proud of myself at the moment.
I’ve been trying to keep up with my exercise. Concerns about my future and about trying to go back to school have made this week a stressful one, but I’m determined to keep trying. Going to talk with my Doctor to see what he thinks. I’m still feeling better than I was but everytime I go a day without exercising I feel like crap in the days after, which makes it harder to get back to exercising. Have to keep pushing though.
